COVID-19 Response Body Bags
The country is witnessing the production of over 1000 body bags daily, as emergency response organizations, Medical Examiner offices, hospitals, and morgues face rapid depletion of standard and heavy-duty body bag stocks. Many are resorting to lightweight or economy bags, sometimes doubling or tripling up per deceased individual for durability and safety. This surge in demand has overwhelmed the limited number of body bag manufacturers and suppliers nationwide, despite efforts to increase production capacity by hiring more staff and running multiple shifts. Manufacturers are now reporting backlogs ranging from three to six months or even longer.
